Take a tour of Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC, United States -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. The Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C. can sometimes be lost among the taller, older monuments in the city. Directly south of the White House on the basin of the Potomac River, this site is dedicated to America's third president, Thomas Jefferson. The memorial was finished around 1943 and dedicated by then-president Franklin Roosevelt. The design took inspiration from the Pantheon and Jefferson's own Rotunda at the University of Virginia. The interior features a bronze statue of Jefferson and quotes from his greatest works, including the Declaration of Independence. The numerous cherry blossom trees around the memorial were dedicated by the Japanese people in 1912. The memorial is open 24 hours a day to the people, who Jefferson lived to serve and save from tyranny.

The finished sculpture will be the famous warrior mounted on a horse pointing ahead. The memorial was started in the mid 1900s and is an ongoing, privately funded effort. http://wp.me/pNFhP-aIG First of all, what I'm going to say is let's take the names of the countries out of this. Let's just leave this space for you.... and what you want. We can wax the pros and cons the whole day, we could do it for a week, we could do it for a year... But basically these are all lukewarm ideas. They're practical, they're logical, but not necessarily are they things that you really, really, really, really want. This (lukewarm ideas) is not a place you'd necessarily want to start at. It's a place you want to end up in. Master a Language vs. Experience a Country First of all, I think you have to ask yourself this question ~ Is my goal to master a language or is it to have an experience? They're kind of two different questions. They do kinda merge, because you'd be learning a language in a different country. But in essence, they're two different questions and they can provide two different answers. If you're looking at mastering a language, try asking yourself~ what language do I feel jazzed about (what do I want to learn)? If you go with that feeling about a language, then it already tells you what country you want to be in. If your goal is to experience a country, then your goal for mastering a language is probably going to be secondary to you. Then it's about ~ What kind of experience do I want to feel, what kind of lifestyle do I want to live or be challenged with? What is your dreamiest country? So you want to go with something that just excites you. (With something) that makes you feel like ~ "Aww! I really want to do this! I"ll just die if I don't do it". It's like being in a room of hot guys and you have to make a choice about which one you want to go steady with. There are all these options... a rocker, jock, nerd... How do you choose? Basically, we choose what we vibe with! The Reality Check: Logistics, budget, comfort zone Pick two or three of those, because now comes your lukewarm ideas and your reality of~ "Is it possible... is it doable?" "Do you have the budget for it?" "Realistically, do you really want to live there or do you want to visit there?" Then start asking yourself the bigger questions... Do you want to date this country or marry it? Watch HD clips from Slide Rock Park, named after the famous Slide Rock, a stretch of slippery creek bottom including a natural water chute. Filmed on a balmy Arizona day in April 2013, this video shows the chute as well as deeper pool areas where swimmers can jump off short cliffs into the water. The water temperature the day this was filmed was a chilly 52F, but that didn't stop most vacationers have jumping in and having fun.

Take a tour of Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, United States -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats. The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most iconic bridges in the world. Joseph Strauss designed the bridge to connect San Francisco to the tip of Marin County. It was completed in 1937 and was the longest suspension bridge in existence at that time. The bridge was an enormous undertaking at the time, taking five years and eleven lives. The bright red color of the Golden Gate Bridge originally comes from the sealant used. Here's an unbelievable statistic - nearly 2 billion cars have crossed the bridge so far. Impressive on its own, the striking surroundings and weather of the area make the bridge mythic. There are many viewpoints and activities around the bay from which locals and visitors experience the bridge. Few places in the world are as recognizable as the Golden Gate Bridge of San Francisco.

Take a tour of Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, United States -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. When most people think of seeing stars in L.A., their minds jump to celebrities. Really, though, the best place for star-gazing in Los Angeles is the Griffith Observatory. Colonel Griffith J. Griffith donated both land and money for the observatory in his will. Construction began in 1933, and the complex opened in 1935 and was immediately swamped by visitors. The vast observatory includes telescopes and a planetarium. This facility is an important piece of history as Apollo astronauts learned celestial navigation here. The Griffith Observatory has plenty of exhibits that will appeal to visitors of all ages.

Take a tour of Washington Monument in Washington, DC -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats. Hi, I am Naomi and I am very excited to show you the World's Greatest Attractions! The Washington Monument graces the cityscape of Washington D.C. beautifully. It honors the life of the first US President, George Washington. Dedicated in 1885, it has the distinction of being the tallest structure in Washington D.C. The monument is also one of the tallest stone structures in the world. The different shades in the stone reflect multiple periods of construction. It is surrounded by American flags and is an admired symbol of the country's patriotism.
