There's gold in them hills! It's very fitting that alaska's mountains would be home to the brightest and most intense rainbow I have seen in my whole life! The rain was pouring down and this rainbow stood out like neon against the dark skies. Almost the whole town was in awe- there were more people pulled off on the side of the parks highway taking pictures of it than there were people driving on the highway! Guides last day! The true polar plunge ;). Make sure if you take the dive to put in a ice screw and cordelette or at least have a hand ready. Too slippery and sharp to get out on your own. I kept my socks on and he kept his boots on for this. That champagne ice can be unforgiving. Discovered by Sarah Kelson at Mendenhall Glacier, Juneau, Alaska

This is Öxnadalur, which is located in one of the last valleys leading up to Akureri. I was struck by the isolation of this farmhouse in such a ruggedly beautiful setting...it is expensive to travel in Iceland, but I can't wait to go back! #iceland #mountains #rugged #travel #remote Discovered by Bo at Akureyri, Iceland
