Stockholm's compact island core is charming, photogenic, and full of antiques shops, street lanterns and surprises like the beautiful Lutheran cathedral . The main drag is a favorite with shoppers and tourists. But just a block or two from the commotion, the atmosphere changes. Tranquil lanes feel much like they did back in the 17th century, when all of Stockholm fit on Gamla Stan. A new hostel built inside a jumbo jet plane has now opened in Sweden's capital. And for those romantics who like flying high, a honeymoon suite is available in the jet's cockpit. For more news and videos visit ☛ http://ntd.tv Follow us on Twitter ☛ http://twitter.com/NTDTelevision Add us on Facebook ☛ http://on.fb.me/s5KV2C STORY: The new Jumbo Jet hostel at Stockholm's Arlanda airport offers flyers a whole new departure. Opening this week, the decommissioned Boeing 747 has been completely refurbished to accommodate travelers - but this time under different circumstances. The 450 seats have been stripped out and instead there are now 25 bedrooms and nine bathrooms. The nose of the plane has been converted into a reception area while upstairs there's a lounge. Staff are attired in cabin crew outfits. Like any other self-respecting establishment, the Jumbo Hostel also boasts a honeymoon suite - sited in the cockpit, naturally, and the only room on the plane with ensuite bathroom facilities. And the wedding theme doesn't stop there. [Gisela Olson, Jumbo Hostel Site Manager]: "This is the cockpit suite and you can stay here if you're celebrating something special or if you get married so we're going to have the "wing walk" and at the end of the wing walk you can get married." Sited within walking distance of the airport terminals, where up to 18 million passengers pass through every year, the hostel's owner, Oscar Dios is confident the enterprise will take off now that the biggest challenge has been overcome. [Oscar Dios, Jumbo Hostel General Manager]: "The most challenging thing with this project was trying to build something inside a metal hull - it's just really, really tight. It's very different from building a house." The construction issues resolved - the sky's the limit for Dios, who says he wants to build a fleet of jumbo jet hostels around the world.

Besides the Milano Centrale train station and Giorgio Zattonni, there probably is not much the general skate public knows about Italian skateboarding. We first arrived in Rome and were promptly taken to their new skate park located across the street from Cinecitta Studios, just about every skater in Rome was there because who can resist a fresh concrete park. We had a chance to talk with Ale Martoriati and Alessandro Gargiulo about being a skater and sticking with it in football crazed Rome. On the way up to Milan we stopped in Savarna to meet up with Giorgio Zattonni, Italys first international pro, to talk a little bit about his personal history. Milan was the next destination, and we got a chance to skate with Max Bonassi, the recognized father of Italian skateboarding. Along with his long time friend, and important skater in his own right, Claudio Bernardini they run Bastard Clothing. The building that Bastard is housed in is old movie theatre outfitted with one of the most beautiful wooden bowls that hangs over the whole office. These might not be the most well know people in global skateboard history, but they certainly are some of the most die hard. Helsinki's most important sight is Suomenlinna, an island guarding Helsinki's harbor that served as a strategic fortress for three countries: Sweden, Russia, and then Finland. It's now a popular park, most appreciated by locals for its scenic strolls. This April, four young people will attempt something truly unique: to trek to the North Pole and lower a flag 4km to the seabed. Attached to the flag will be a capsule containing more than two and a half million signatures calling for a sanctuary in the uninhabited area around the pole. Leave a comment to encourage them on their gruelling journey, and follow their progress at facebook.com/arctic.rising The team is not made up of Arctic explorers but members of a global movement three million strong. They are Ezra Miller, actor/musician from New York, USA, Josefina Skerk of the Sami people in Northern Sweden, Keira Kolson, a Tso'Tine-Gwich'in youth from the Northwest Territories, Canada, and Renny Bijoux from the Seychelles. http://www.SaveTheArctic.org Timelapse footage Helheim Glacier: Gordon Hamilton / University of Maine

In the buildup to Julian Assange's run for the Australian senate, VICE was invited to the Ecuadorian embassy in London for a rare in-person interview. Our visit coincided with the conviction of Bradley Manning, the young US Army private whose alleged espionage put WikiLeaks on the map. Assange spoke to us about political payback, his plans for freeing the most famous whistle-blower in history, and why the world needs a WikiLeaks political party. Since the start of Why Would You Eat That?, there has been one food that you have consistently asked us to feature: surströmming. So we finally got our hands on some of that super nasty, extremely stinky fermented fish that's a traditional Swedish delicacy harking back to the years before the refrigerator was invented. Subscribe to see what food we explore next week: http://goo.gl/Z7lbS Even the biggest fans of fish are going to have to dig deep in order find something to like about surströmming. In many places in Sweden, the fermented fish has been outlawed, from school cafeterias to entire apartment buildings, and now that Europe is regulating the eating of high-mercury fish, these slimy Baltic herrings have been slapped with a warning. That's not the only thing that makes them dangerous; cans of surströmming start to visibly expand and can explode with the pressure of the fermentation. Because of this, several airlines have banned the herring. That's one dangerous fish. Still, some people like it and it's a Swedish cultural tradition -- watch and find out why! Have you ever tried surströmming? Would you want to try it? What's the grossest food you've ever tried? What should Michael and Chris explore next? Watch More Why Would You Eat That?: http://goo.gl/8V404 On Why Would You Eat That? we scour the globe for the most bizarre foods and explain why anyone would be crazy enough to eat them. You'll be shocked to see how one man's trash can actually be another man's delicacy. Don't forget to subscribe to Tasted for a new episode of Why Would You Eat That? every Friday!
