A new program has been introduced to the DC Department of Corrections along with some other institutions across the country. It's called "video visitation" and it's aim is to take actual face-to-face meetings with friends and family and replace them with remote conferencing conducted with cameras at separate facilities. The deal for this technology was reached between the DC city council and the Global Tel*Link Company, which installed the system for free.
