Beyond the touristy vibe, there's plenty to do and see on the world famous boulevard. (Paris, France) Arc de Triomphe, the famous french landmark, was built by Napolean to serve as French war victories. Engraved under the arc are the names of more than one hundred battles, and also the names of the generals who lead the armies. From Arc de Triomphe, if you start walking eastwards, you come across great landmarks like Luxor and the Louvre Museum. And on the way, you also walk on this tiny little avenue called the Champs-Élysées. The German army marched here in 1940 and the American army marched there in 1944. Even today, it is the site of events like the Bastille Parade and the finish point of Tour de France. Less officially, a lot of people come here on New Year's Eve, to celebrate with bottles of champagne. The avenue has a more touristic feel to it. You are not going to find a lot of locals here. It is only ten o'clock in the morning and there is already a line of people waiting for the shops to open. Interestingly, there are two car dealerships where you can check out the latest concept cars. Ono is one of them. There are lots of restaurants and cafes, considering this is one of the most expensive real estates in the world. Food and drink are not going to be cheap. Fouguet's is a legend, French palace during the first world war used to hang out here. More recently, freshly elected Nicolas Sarkozy came to celebrate is victory with his friend here on election night. Laduree is a well-known bakery and their desserts back at home have a very good reputation. Do not get too involved on cafes and shops every now and then to look up to get a glimpse of the wonderful architecture. Champs-Élysées has been home to a lot of cinemas and theaters. A lot of films are played in English with French subtitles. The Champs really has two parts - as you get closer to the Plaza de Luxor, past the commercial area, the character of the avenue changes totally. Shops and cafes are gone and you are in the middle of trees. It is a nice walk, much quiet than the avenue with all the cars. This is Cecil showing you Paris.

France's Mont Saint Michel is an international treasure. The shrine to the Arch Angel Micheal was begun in 708. Today this extraordinary island is visited by 3 and one half million people each year. We stayed in Bayeux at the Churchill Hotel which arranged our tour. Bayeux is a great place to stay when visiting both the island and the D-Day beaches. We highly recommend the tour and the Churchill. http://www.hotel-churchill.fr/en.php

Final resting place for many world famous personalities like Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison. Address 16 Rue du Repos Phone/Contact Info +33 1 55 25 82 10 Tickets/Prices Free Père Lachaise is the largest cemetery in Paris and one of the most famous in the world. Many, many famous people are buried here among these grand monuments and mausoleums. Everybody knows Carmen. Here is the man who wrote the music, the famous composer Georges Bizet. Here is the grave of French novelist, Honoré de Balzac. All the French students know him because they have to read his books in high school. His most famous work is La Comédie humaine, The Human Comedy. It is a collection of novels. "Père Lachaise is interesting because it has got a beautiful ambience. After you go to the galleries then you go to the final resting place of some of the great artists." In the cemetery, there are 5,000 trees. It is almost like a park! Not all people who are buried here are French. For instance, Jim Morrison, the singer of The Doors, is American, and he has his grave here because he died in Paris. This winged statue marks the site where Irish playwright Oscar Wilde is buried. As you can see, he has a lot of admirers who come and kiss his grave. Père Lachaise was the first cemetery in France to have its own crematorium. It was built in the 1880s in Byzantine style. This is Mur des Fédérés, the Communards' Wall. In 1871, 150 people got shot here. Along this same wall are monuments dedicated to those who lost their lives in the Holocaust. "For younger people who do not know a lot about the history behind it, it is really good learning. As a teacher, you can talk about the people and what they did and why they are important, and even if you do not know about them, you can make that sort of connection with the French culture." This cemetery is like a labyrinth, so before you get in, make sure you have got a map. I am Cécile, showing you Paris.

Experience Provencal cuisine in Paris amidst a setting from South of France. Other Information Featured Restaurant la Bastide d'Opio 9 rue Guisarde www.bistrot-opio.com +33 1 43 29 01 84 provence@opio.com We are on a lovely little road in the 6 arrondissement, Rue Guisarde. And we are going to go to number 9 to la Bastide d'Opio, a lovely Provencal restaurant. Provence, a region in the south of France, is known for its cuisine. It is known to have one of the healthiest cuisines throughout the world. What distinguishes Provencal cuisine from other French cuisine is that it uses olive oil as the main ingredient to prepare the food, unlike other regions that tend to use cream and butter. And we are going to visit the Provencal restaurant, la Bastide d'Opio. "The name of the restaurant, the Bastide d'Opio, comes from the name of the village Opio that is located in Provence. It is in between Nice and Grasse. (Colors) are exactly what you would find on every Provencal house." Provencal cuisine evokes all the different flavors of a lovely, warm, sunny climate. "Many things are cooked in olive oil with the Herbes de Provence and the "sun" vegetables like tomatoes. You have also got herbed bread, lots of basil, the pistou sauce." If you are not sure what to order while you are here, you may want to take a look at the suggestion board. As an appetizer today they are recommending salmon. For the main dish they recommend today a rump steak in a pepper sauce. And the dessert looks really interesting. It is prunes that have been marinated in some type of orange liqueur. "We specialize more so in fish, because it is a Mediterranean style of food with the sea, and the freshest ingredients possible. We serve very little meat, just some lamb and some beef." This is really not an experience you are going to want to rush. In fact, you may want to order an aperitif before you have your food. So, I am going to try Pastis, it is the most famous aperitif perhaps of Provence. Its base is anise and you want to drink it with water as an aperitif. Thank you. Sante. This is Guenol, showing you Paris. Sante.

Take a tour of Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré where you find the most upscale and luxury brands. Location 8th Arrondissement Getting There/Directions Metro: Saint-Philippe-du-Roule Paris is synonymous with Fashion, so it is inevitable there is a fashion District here. The fashion District I am in is located on one of Paris's oldest Medieval Street, the Rue Du Faubourg, Saint Honore. Let's take a walk down the street and indulge in some window shopping. There is a series of designer showrooms, featuring clothes, cosmetics and furnishing. There are also a few avaunt guard exclusive Paris girl boutiques on the street, just remember the prices are actually quite hyper and exclusive. It may take you half a day to walk along the street. Each shop window seems more attractive than the last one you just saw. In fact, window decoration is taken very seriously. The showroom with the most attractive display is the one located here at Hermes, Hermes is considered by many to be a representation, Parisian culture. Hermes'signature peace is, of course, the scarf. Perhaps the most renowned label here is Christian Dior. The label that made Paris the leader of fashion after the second world war. The amnesty here is a little bit on the formal side, not surprising, since here are the richest shops in Paris. So, be sure to wear presentable clothes. This is Guenol showing you Paris.

Indulge in crepes at a typical French creperie. Location Near Pompidou Centre Address Creperie Beaubourg 2, rue Brisemiche Phone/Contact Info +33 1 42 77 63 62 A creperie is a very good choice when you want to have something quick and inexpensive in Paris, but because there are so many creperies in Paris, and not all are good, find out if thats a good one before going there. I recommend this one, Creperie Beaubourg. In small creperies, most of the time there are very few tables so you may have to wait a little bit but, this is a full size creperie so there are plenty of tables. Most creperies serve only crepes. Sometimes, salads together with soft drink and cider. So a crepe has fillings inside the batter. Fillings can be cheese, ham, vegetables, eggs and there are also dessert crepes. This is soft dough and you can take it on this first plate which is, 250 degree Celsius, and then this one is the second plate, it is only 150 degrees Celsius. "I am the manager of this restaurant, the Creperie Beaubourg." What are the most popular crepes? "The basics, the "Complete" with ham and cheese inside. We also have some rather filling crepes like, the "Southwest" with gizzards, eggs and potatoes, thats the salty side. As for the sweeter ones, we have the "Sugar Butter" and "Salty Caramel," which is very nice. We also have anything with whipped cream...people love that. The more of it (whipped cream), the better it is." It is a mix of chocolate and flour. The chocolate is directly incorporated into the dough. It is the first time I have seen this. I have an order. This is a crepe with chocolate and almond. This is Cecile Brisson showing you Paris.
