This is from the National Museum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The museum is an excellent and large new museum with exhibits covering ancient history through to modern times. This was filmed in Riyadh in January 2008. The Museum includes some of the oldest rocks in the world -- I believe 2 billion years old as well as dinosaur bones and other artifacts found in Saudi Arabia. Riyadh is the capitol city of Saudi Arabia and the center for government for the country. Contrary to most images of Saudi Arabia, this park is typical of the wholesome family atmosphere common in the country. It is very tranquil and relaxing. The National Museum is run with support from the Supreme Tourism Commission (STC) and HRH Price Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz. Prince Salman is an amazing person and was voted by a youth Arab counsel as their most respected and admired figure. He is young and charismatic and was the first Arab, first Muslim and first Saudi astronaut. Prince Sultan bin Salman is a patron of the arts and very interested in archeology and science. This quiet and simple video is about as basic as you can get: people enjoying time in a park with their families. World's 5 Mega Construction Projects - as part of the travel series by GeoBeats. Around the world, we keep building structures that are taller and bigger than the existing ones. Here are 5 current mega constructions projects. Number 5 is the Kingdom Tower in Saudi Arabia. Upon its expected completion in 2017, it will have an approximate height of 3,280 feet, making it the tallest building in the world. With a budget of nearly $1.2 billion, the tower will have more than 160 floors, including apartments, office space, and condos. Number 4 - The Falconcity of Wonders in Dubai. With an area of 400,000 sq feet, this mega construction project would host the replicas of 7 wonders of the world such as Taj Mahal, Effiel Tower, and The Great Wall. In addition, it will feature a theme park, educational institute, sports facilities, and approximately 5,500 residential units. The project is expected to complete between 2015 and 2017. Number 3 is the Shanghai Tower in Shanghai, China. Upon its completion in 2014, this 2074 feet structure would be the second tallest building in the world. The 121-story tower will have plenty of dinning, entertainment, and office space options. The mega construction project has a budget of $1.9 billion. Number 2 is the Crystal Island in Moscow, Russia. With an approximate height of 1500 feet, this "tent-like" structure will comprise of apartment buildings, hotel, office, shopping, exhibition & performance space. Number 1 is the 1 World Trade Center, which is part of the new World Trade Center complex in New York City. Upon its completion in 2015, the 1,776 feet tall building would not only be the tallest building in New York City but also in the US. Which one of these is your favorite?

What's the best car to drive across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia? Why, A McLaren 12C of course. We cover more than 2000 kilometres looking for motoring nirvana. On paper, it didn't look that far. On a map, Saudi Arabia looks relatively mid-sized, nestled next to the enormous expanse of the African mainland. But now that I'm here, and I'm mentally calculating distances and driving times, I fear I may have underestimated things somewhat. I've never been to Saudi before -- my one previous attempt to visit was stymied by the lengthy visa approval process -- so what I know is largely based on stories from other people and from the media. Not all of which is entirely complimentary. But on the other hand, there's something appealing about such a mysterious place, a place that's rarely high on people's must-visit list. Saudi is off-the beaten track, a relative enigma, a place I want to find out more about. Is it really the fun-free dustbowl as portrayed by so many?

"A rash of new laws issued in Saudi Arabia aim to blot out all political dissent — and in one case defines atheists as terrorists. The series of laws began in January of 2014. At the end of last month, Human Rights Watch issued a report explaining that "a series of related royal decrees create a legal framework that appears to criminalize virtually all dissident thought or expression as terrorism." According to the Times of India, some of the laws were issued to deal with the number of Saudis who traveled to Syria to partake in the civil war, and returned with new ideas of overthrowing the monarchy. In February King Abdullah issued Royal Decree 44, which criminalizes "participating in hostilities outside the kingdom."
