Two Pacific National "NR class" class diesel locomotives come into view with a very long Melbourne to Perth superfreight container train and cross a broad gauge cement train that had past my location just moments earlier. The second NR locomotive is NR25 and wears a special livery to promote the GSR "Indian Pacific" passenger train. The NR class are an Australian mainline diesel electric locomotive that use GE Transportation Systems engines and traction equipment developing just over 4000 horsepower. They were introduced by National Rail in 1996 and are now owned by Pacific National. . PoathTV - Australian Trains, Railways & Railroads

Three "SCT class" locomotives (SCT008, SCT011, and SCT006) arrive at Gheringhap loop late in the day with around 1.5km of boxcars, refrigerated wagons, and container wagons bound for Adelaide and Perth. The tank wagon directly behind the locomotives is used for refueling the locomotives during this very long journey. The sucess of the SCT class locomotives has lead to a number of similar locomotives including the LDP, TT and WH class locomotives entering service with other operators. Filmed using a Sony PMW-EX3 high definition camera. The perfect camera for railfanning around Australian railroads! . PoathTV - Australian Trains, Railways & Railroads

A V/Line passenger train led by an N class diesel locomotive powers along the Geelong to Melbourne line at sunrise, and is seen as it passes through a railway level crossing (aka "grade crossing") near Little River, Victoria. Amazingly some motorists will still ignore warning bells, flashing lights, and boom gates in an attempt to save a few seconds on their journey. Whether you're a pedestrian or in a vehicle always remember to obey the warning signs at level crossings, being hit by a train because you'd didn't take a few seconds to look in both directions is a dumb way to die. The N Class diesel locomotives have been operated by V/Line since 1985, and used almost exclusively on passenger train services. Their 2500hp EMD engines easily handle the typical load of between 3 and 8 passenger carriages. The recent gauge conversion of the line between Melbourne and Albury means a small number of N class locomotives have been gauge converted from broad gauge to standard gauge to operate the passenger services on that line. A ready to run HO scale model of the N class locomotive was released by Auscision Models in November 2010, details are on their website www.auscisionmodels.com.au. Filmed using a Sony PMW-EX3 high definition camera. . PoathTV - Australian Trains, Railways & Railroads

A Specialised Container Transport (SCT) Perth to Melbourne train has just passed through Geelong and is seen passing a road level crossing (grade crossing) between Lara and Little River as the early morning sun rises a few minutes before 6am on 11 November 2010. The train is lead by three "SCT class" locomotives, is roughly 1.5km long, and has a load of 50 boxcars, refrigerated wagons and loaded container flats. The tanks directly behind the locomotives are used for in-line refueling during the trains long journey. . PoathTV - Australian Trains, Railways & Railroads

As the fog starts to roll in a Pacific National standard gauge grain train headed towards Geelong passes through a railway level crossing. The train dips its headlight as it nears my filming position, so I know a Melbourne bound train must be approaching. Sure enough I turn around to see the headlights of an approaching V/line Sprinter passenger train have also been dimmed for a moment. The passenger train headlight returns to full power allowing us to see the grain hoppers in the distance, and then the passenger train makes its safe passage across the level crossing. . On Thursday 12 April 2012 the Great Southern Rail (GSR) Sydney to Perth "Indian Pacific" passenger train was diverted from its usual Sydney to Adelaide segment of the route and instead traveled via Melbourne where it was combined with the Melbourne to Adelaide "Overland" passenger train for the run to Adelaide. The Indian Pacific had been diverted due to a train derailment blocking the western NSW line. GSR operates four long distance Australian passenger trains - The Ghan, Indian Pacific, The Overland and The Southern Spirit. Details about these trains can be found on their website http://www.gsr.com.au/ . PoathTV - Australian Trains, Railways & Railroads
