The Western Ghats also Known as Sahyadari is running parallel to the west coast to the entirely of India. The most of the southern region of the Western Ghats situated in Munnar, one of the most visited hill destination in Kerala. The place contains a number of wide varieties of endemic animal species and rare species of flowers. These rare species of animals and birds are protected inside Eravikulam National Park. The highest peak point of the Western Ghats, Anamalai Hills situated inside the park. The location situated about 15km away from Munnar town. The place is the home to the endemic species like Nilgiri Tahr and Nilgiri langurs. The most of the place covered with green grasslands and Nilgiri Tahr is spotted somewhere in the slopes near to the park entrance. The park also occupies leopards, Tigers, beers and other wild animals. The park is mainly divided into three parts Green lands, scrublands and the deep green forests. Initially, it was declared as the wildlife sanctuary and after 3 years the place officially declared as national park considering the presence endemic species of birds and wild animals. Most of the rainforest or shola forests are situated inside the park. According to Kerala tourism packages, the visiting times for tourists are limited here because of the presence of the wild animals. The park opens from7.30AM to 4.30PM every day but morning times are the best to visit the place. The scenic view of mountain valleys of Munnar from here is awesome which offers a fantastic trekking for the travelers. The place consists of 132 different species of birds like Nilgiri wood Pigeon, Varieties of flycatchers and Nilgiri Pipit, the endemic bird species in the Nilgiri family will sing for you that makes your trip more joyful.
