Canoa Beach, Ecuador, Canoa, Ecuador - Canoa was our favourite beach side town in Ecuador. Laid back, but with plenty to do of an evening, the main road along the sea is still made of sand, and every morning local fisherman can be seen on the shore, removing the catch from their nets and feeding the leftovers to giant frigate birds. There are miles of beach to wander, lovely little beach side bars, and lots of accommodation options. If you've been to Montanita, think of Canoa as Montanita as it was 10 years ago! Also popular with surfers in the high season. Oh, and don't miss the sunset, particularly if you can get the tide right for a decent reflection ;)
