Three popular spoof comedies. In 'The Naked Gun' (1988), bungling Los Angeles police lieutenant Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen) is investigating potential drug smuggler Vincent Ludwig (Ricardo Montalban) when he falls for the magnate's attractive secretary Jane Spencer (Priscilla Presley). However, the pair's budding romance is placed in jeopardy when Frank's boss (George Kennedy) tells him that an assassination attempt is being planned on the visiting Queen of England - and it is up to the inept Frank to prevent it. In 'Airplane!' (1980), former fighter pilot Ted Striker (Robert Hays) hasn't flown since the war, when an error of judgement on his part led to the decimation of his squadron. Now he has a drink problem (he keeps missing his mouth) and his girlfriend, air hostess Elaine Dickinson (Julie Hagerty), has walked out on him. Desperate to get her back, Ted follows her onto her next flight which goes horribly wrong when the entire cabin crew succumb to food poisoning mid-air. Aided by Elaine, the unflappable Doctor Rumack (Nielsen) and his former nemesis Rex Kramer (Robert Stack) back at air control, Ted makes a valiant effort to fly the plane to safety. But has he still got what it takes? Finally, in 'Top Secret' (1984), Val Kilmer plays Nick Rivers, a rock 'n' roll singer on tour in East Germany who has a chance meeting with Hillary Flammond (Lucy Gutteridge), and agrees to help free her imprisoned scientist father (Michael Gough). Before he knows it, he's joined the French resistance and is attempting to thwart a Communist takeover of the West.
