It may have been the focal point of the Renaissance, but Florence is a city that s firmly planted in the 21st century and looking forward to the future. As well as ambitious new building projects such as a high-speed train link designed by Sir Norman Foster and a new exit to the Uffizi by Arata Isozaki, the city is also creating a satellite town (Firenze Nova) from scratch. Even those traditional aspects of Italian life food and drink are getting a revamp, with an increasing number of destination wine bars and trendy restaurants opening in Florence. Pisa Airport( the main airport for Florence and Tuscany) is now operating direct flights to the US and tourism should increase exponentially.
