San Diego, CA, Highway 94- This agent wasn't just going to wave me through and needed to be straight right away. These roadblocks are fundamentally counter to the principles of law in the US, and represent an unreasonable detention (and often search), even if a very brief one. Please keep in mind that we are all free to use or waive our rights and individual liberties as we see fit. So if you happen to choose to fully cooperate with the agents at these checkpoints and waive your constitutional rights, don't insult those who choose to flex their rights. Its not about making a "cool" Youtube video. Its about standing up for what is right and what we believe in. Safe travels, everyone! United States v. Martinez-Fuerte: "We have held that checkpoint searches are constitutional only if justified by consent or probable cause to search." The Court also held, "our holding today is limited to the type of stops described in this opinion. Any further detention...must be based on consent or probable cause."
